Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)

Welcome to the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department of PES Institute of Technolgy, Bangalore South Campus which currently offers Bachelors of Engineering programs. The department has well qualified motivated young teaching talent whose main focus is on the “teaching- learning” with the right balance in research . To become a pioneer in Electronics and Communication Engineering education is the key driving force for all activities in the department. Keeping in mind this objective, the department has also set up a Center for System Design and Verification.

The research interests of the faculty members encompass a wide gamut of sub-disciplines of Electronics and Communication Engineering like Signal Processing, Networking, Communication and VLSI. Collaboration with faculty members from other disciplines, both within and outside the institute, is encouraged. The department has tie-ups with Synopsys® for providing the academicians the experience of working on world class tools from the industry. The research activity of the department includes fundamental research in a variety of Electronics related domains and is carried out with active participation of the students and faculty. The lab facilities and the infrastructure are excellent and are regularly upgraded and are well supported by the institute and the industrial partners. Finally the ultimate goal is to provide the best learning experience for students in the department .

The faculty of the department also conduct courses outside the university curriculum to help students do practical projects and theoretical research. The courses include:

  • A course on Linear Algebra.
  • A course on Probability Theory and Random Process.
  • Introductory Course on Real Analysis.
  • Introductory Course on Numerical Methods and Optimization.
  • Introduction to Linux Operating System.
  • Introduction to Network Programming: The Berkley Sockets.
  • These courses are conducted throughout the year for students who are interested.

Apart from these introductory courses offered in the department, the following electives are also offered:

  • Random Processes
  • Adaptive Signal Processing
  • Speech Processing
  • Image and Video Processing
  • Bio Medical Signal Processing
  • Artificial Neural Networks
